Lean ground beef recipes and hamburgers
These ground beef recipes work best with lean ground beef. I love hamburgers made from 80-85% lean ground beef. I will say that ground sirloin or ground round makes the best hamburger tho.
For the first hamburger you don’t need anything but an onion and some lean ground beef. I invented this one when I was cooking at a little beer bar and grill way back when I was 16. A customer was tired of the usual hamburgers and asked me to make him something different.
It’s a pretty easy lean ground beef recipe and any idiot can do it. Take one half pound of ground beef and divide it into two equal pieces. Now make two patties about 4 inches around. Lol, yes, the ground beef, ground round or ground sirloin will be a bit thin but don’t worry about it yet.
After you have the two beef patties made cut one slice of onion about 1/4 inch thick. Chop the onion until it’s pretty fine. Now take half the onion and spread it on top of one of the hamburger patties you’ve made. Then sprinkle on some salt and pepper but not to much.
Now lay the other hamburger patty on the one you just put the onion and salt and pepper on. Now all you have to do is mash the edges down so you make one ground beef burger out of the two you had. Make sure you get the edges totally sealed or it will fall apart. I guess that’s the trickiest part of these burgers.
Now fry or grill these 1/2 pound burgers slowly so you give the onions inside some time to get cooked. You can also salt and pepper the outside if you like that or if they need more salt and pepper. When they are nice and brown and 100% done throw them on a big hamburger bun and enjoy.
If you like you can fry the onion a bit, before adding it to the burgers, so it gets more done in the burgers. You can also add some bits of shredded cheese to the onion or sprinkle some Worcestershire on for a different taste. Whatever you might like in the center of a hamburger you can add to these.
So there you have it, one of my easy ground beef recipes for tasty hamburgers no one can mess up.
