My girlfriend asked me last night “Can you read my mind?” I told her no, I couldn’t, it just seemed that way so then she asked “If you can’t read my mind how do you know so much of what I’m thinking or feeling?”.
It’s a relatively simple thing and I find children who have been abused or adults who were severely abused as children all have the ability to recognize and extrapolate what’s going to happen. It’s not mind reading per se but is acute observation.
It’s also experience and understanding why people do what they do, what feelings are they really having, what is it they aren’t saying. It’s knowledge of people and their actions or thoughts nut it’s not reading someones mind.
Just like the mind control people on TV don’t really read peoples minds. The guy who walked all opver Rome looking for a place the other man had hidden something. He didn’t read his mind to find it, he kept his hand on the man all the time while they were walking and he used the mans tension and movements to lead him to where the man had hidden something.
No mind reading involved. While I believe in ESP, Clairvoyance, etc. a lot of want people think of as mind reading isn’t really the reading of a mind but of the whole person and their body language.
My girlfriends brother was arguing with another of her brothers the oher night and I leaned over to her and whispered “Jim doesn’t know what he’s mad about but here it is and here’s the solution.” An hour later he finally wound down and I askd him one question.
He confirmed what I had told my girlfriend earlier and then he wanted to know how I knew. Lol, simple, I know people and how they think and what they want. There was no mind reading involved but everyone is still amazed I can do things like that with so much accuracy.
What had happened yesterday that prompted my GF to ask if I could read her mind was that her grand daughter had gotten angry at her and said I don’t care, you don’t have to pick me up. That hurt my GF but I talked to her right after it happened and explained it to her.
Later on that night I simply said, no, don’t call and see about her. She’s with her mother and she is fine. What she wants is for you to call and that’s why neither her or her mother have called you today. Leave it be as she said she didn’t care. Just get ready for bed and go to bed as normal.
She just could not believe I hadn’t read her mind as I knew she was about to call her granddaughter. Nope, it’s just knowing the people involved and being aware of what they are thinking and feeling. Of course it helps if you get lucky now and then, too.
For me mind reading is more of a hyper awareness of people, their body language and stress. You can do the same things by just learning to pay attention. It’s not that hard and any can do it. Try is and see if your friends don’t say “Can you read my mind?”.
