Safety Security and Fear

Do you live in fear for your safety and security? Do you fear for your families safety and security? Fear is another of those emotions that are almost useless. It’s sort of a leftover from our evolutionary process and what it was designed to do back in the cave man days and what fear does now is two different things.

Obviously cavemen were afraid for their safety and security and fearful of many things they didn’t understand. As we advanced as humans the flight or fight process that came from fear started causing us more problems than it solved. Now days we have a lot of people with unreasonable amounts of fear.

Fear is now a paralyzing emotion that keeps us from living our lives. There are people who are afraid to leave their houses or apts. There are people paralyzed with a fear of loss, fear of theft, assault and a ton of other fears. The problem with all of this is we really have little to fear in our daily lives and the fears we most worry about aren’t likely to happen.

What is it your fear the most? Is it a reasonable fear? What are the chances of what you fear, actually happening? What most people fear is not likely to happen but they let this unreasonable fear keep them from living their lives to the fullest and happiest.

If you fear is about your own safety and security that website on safety and security may help you realize there are things you can do to overcome your fear or get rid of it all together.

I was reading an article about fear awhile back and it said if your fear isn’t as likely to happen as getting hit by lightning, which is 1 in 13 million, stop worrying about it. Most people think they have a better chance of winning the lottery than they do getting hit by lightning but the chances of winning the lottery are about 15 times less likely than getting hit by lightning.

Am I afraid of getting hit by lightning? Nope, not at all. Do I respect lightning and do things to minimize my chances of getting hit? Certainly. I don’t play golf in storms, I don’t go fishing in storms, I don’t take a shower during storms and I never get into a position where I’m going to be the tallest thing around during a lightning storm. That’s all just common sense but it’s not something I worry about or that keeps me from going out of the house. Having a respect for something and having a paralyzing fear of something is two different things.

Learning to handle your fears and deal with your fears can go a long way towards making you happier and having a lot less stressful life. Find a way to deal with your fear so it doesn’t limit you. Talk to someone about your fear, get the facts about what it is you most fear. Information can help you overcome a lot of your fears.
