Sleep problems? I’ve had them for years and have been on an almost constant quest to have better sleep or even to just fall asleep. Falling asleep has been my problem since I was a little kid. There are good reasons for this but after I got to be 16 or so those reasons went away but the sleep problems didn’t.
I’ve never been able to fall asleep quickly. Quick was at least an hour of laying there. I’ve tried practically everything you can think of to fall asleep and some worked but left me feeling so bad the next day I couldn’t function. Others caused different problems but drugs just didn’t do what I wanted or leave me feeling the way I wanted to after sleeping all night.
Then I found something that worked and worked well. For my sleep problems it was like a miracle. I could take the pill and then fall asleep in 10 minutes or less. What was this miracle pill that put me to sleep and didn’t leave me feeling bad. Just Xanax. My doctor had prescribed Xanax when I was planning a vacation with my wife and two boys under the age of ten.
We were planning a 3 week trip through the Southwest and the Northwest and to Disneyland. I was worried about the stress traveling with the boys would cause and she gave me the Xanax to try. To my surprise this was something that actually worked. I used it for the last 5 years and was totally happy with it.
Then I ran out or prescriptions and my doctor wouldn’t renew them without seeing me. Unfortunately I’m a thousand miles away from her so it wasn’t like I could just run in and get a new prescription. The doctors here don’t want to give me the Xanax because they say it’s addicting. No so I’ve noticed as I had no withdrawls when I finally ran out.
I tried a few other things friends of mine had. Mostly drugs for depression but they didn’t work to well and left me feeling bad in the morning. Now it may seem funny that being involved with the mind I didn’t try the software and brain entrainment stuff for sleeping, but, hey, I’m kinda sceptical about some things too, just like you are.
Anyway, I finally tried a sleep program and much to my surprise it worked very well. I fell asleep very quickly and slept the whole night through. Perhaps my sleep problems were at an end. Being curious I decided to test it to see what would happen if I didn’t listen. Again, much to my surprise I fell asleep, quickly, even when I didn’t listen to the audio program. It lasted about 5 days before I had trouble sleeping again.
So I went back to using the audio program. It takes me about 15 minutes of listening to it, each night, to ensure that I am going to fall asleep quickly and easily and have better sleep. It does take a set of headphones tho as it has to do with changing your brainwaves from one type to another and to do that it takes a different frequency in each ear. No more drugs, no more Xanax and I’m sleeping better with no real sleep problems at all.
Some people say that these types of programs don’t work but I don’t think that’s true. Science is finding out more and more about the brain and sleep and in some tests have shown that these types of audio sleep programs do work better than drugs do. Just a quick update on my sleep problems and how things are going.
Yep, I’m still listening to the sleep program and still falling asleep quickly and easily. I’ve found the more often I listen to the program the easier it is to fall asleep.
Since I started this I’ve only had one night where I had any problem falling asleep and that ws my own fault. I was angry at my girlfriend and had a very diccicult time falling asleep so I listened to the program again while doing somethings to relax and calm my mind and after listening I promptly fell alseep.
I’m happy to say that I haven’t taken any drugs to sleep for three weeks now. I don’t know that I feel any better as the xanax never caused me to have any of the usual problems with pills for sleeping but I do feel good. No real withdrawl symptoms from discontinuing the xanax either.
