The reality of unreality

Interesting that reality has now come to include the unreal as entirely normal and natural. Nonreality is more real than reality and actually seems real.

All of that from seeing a talking dog that really looked real, on that most realistic of all mediums, TV. So I started thinking about all of the movie scenes I’ve seen that I know were not real, but digitized versions of real.

IOW my mind accepted what it knew to be unreal, as real.  Hmmm, what if some archeologist finds a tape of that commercial 5000 years in the future? Will it set off a feverish hunt for the unreal, yet real looking, talking dog?

What with the possibility of unreliability raising it’s ugly head at any time and not being able to tell the difference you can no longer trust what you see as reality. I expect to see ‘real’ unreality become even more reality than it is now.

It won’t be that long until your cell phone shows movies in hologram form, above the phone. It won’t be long until 3d is so real that your mind can’t tell the difference.  I also think that 3D reality is going to become more addictive than drugs ever thought about being.

The ability to alter reality at will is certain to be to much of a good thing for a lot of people. Like drugs, the ability to alter reality is going to cost money. However it’s going to be legitimate money and 3D is going to make a ton for those who get into it.

It’s still aways off tho. Unreality has already become so normal it’s considered reality. Does this mean we are all crazy?

Hi,

I’m not sure you understand the difference between reality and something not being real. I get your point that it’s the mind that defines reality.

For some people ghosts are reality but for others ghosts do not exist. For some reality is warped all out of perspective but for that person it’s still reality. That reality is real to that person.

Everyones view of reality is colored by what they know, what they’ve done and what they’ve seen. That means there is no one true reality for all because everyones reality is different due to their different experiences in life.

The talking dog in the show was reality, for that show. However people apply filters to reality so in most realities talking dogs don’t exist. The point is, some people believe dogs can talk so in their reality the show is absolute truth.

Reality is perception based and what your brain perceives as real, is real. It may not be factual but it’s still real. Don’t confuse factual information and reality. Most times they have little relationship to each other.

Just my realistic 2 cents worth.
