Have you ever sat and wandered why you spend so much time doing what you do? After all, doesn’t it seem sometimes like we’re spending so much time doing things we don’t want to do? I mean, why do we work 8 hours a day, sometimes more? Is it because we love working? Is it because we love spending time on somebody else’s dream?
And then when you get your paycheck, what do you do with it? Do you spend it? Do you go out and buy clothes and food spend money on alcohol just because does nothing else to do? Is this really what life is?
Not everybody lives like this. In some parts of the world, people live differently. But no matter where you go, until you put down roots there you will not have this problem. When you are new in a country, city, or anyplace for that matter, you’re in a constant state of change until you adjust to your new environment.
And then after you have adjusted, you say to yourself: what now?
Well, I’ll tell you what. You think about buying all kinds of stuff. You say to yourself: well, I finally figured out how to get by in this crazy place, so now I am going to spend all my time building some sort of life for myself. Maybe I’m just weird, but this seems crazy to me! The home Who decided that this is the point of the game? Why do I, or anybody else, need to play by these rules? How did we get stuck in this game?
When I was in my twenties, I left America and moved to another country where English was not the main language. I had to learn that native language from scratch. I was thrust into a system, the army no less, of this country and guess what? They don’t speak English and that army.
Anyway, the point is that after I finally became comfortable with this language, culture, and so on, but help myself asking the same questions that I had right before I left America. What is there to life?
Now, I will admit that the draw a settling down is slightly more appealing than it was a few years ago. However, I know that there is a big world out there, and if I don’t see it before I lock myself in here, I will never be satisfied.
To answer the question, then: In life, you must always move towards the things that you claim to want to do. Your goals, your dreams, your aspirations. Until you have sufficiently applied yourself to these ends, you will never relax.
